At least three killed in shooting at Kurdish cultural center in Paris

At least three people were killed and three injured in shootings in and around the Kurdish cultural center in Paris on Friday. Suspect gunman known to authorities. He was seized and detained.

At noon on Friday, multiple gunshots were fired at the Center Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Community Center on rue Enghien, a busy shopping street in the 10th arrondissement of Ward, hit at least six people.

The Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office said it had launched an investigation into murder, manslaughter and aggravated violence.

A 69-year-old man in possession of a firearm was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for treatment, among other things, for facial injuries.

Darmanin, who was visiting a police station in Tourcoing, northern France, nearly 300 kilometers away, said he would return to Paris to oversee the initial stages of the investigation.
