Paris News has reached out to candidates in contested regional elections for comment on their candidacy. Amanda Willows is running for re-election to the Reno City Council.
Q. What do you think is Reno’s main problem that has led you to seek office?
aI love this community and the people who live here. My hope is that it will continue to grow and strengthen in order to provide its citizens with the best quality of life we can offer. I would like to continue to represent the voices of the people.
Q. What experiences make you feel qualified for your desired position?
aI have been on the Reno City Council since 2014. I chair the Reno Parks and Trails Commission and have been a member since the commission began. I am also a member of the Reno Cemetery Board and a member of the Reno Crime Control Board. I am a Criminal Justice Instructor at Texas A&M University School of Commerce. I have a Master of Science in Criminology from TAMUC, a Master of Science in Security Studies with an Emphasis on National Security from Arizona State University, a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from ASU, and a BA in Sociology from TAMUC. I’m here. I actively volunteer in our community as well as in surrounding communities in the areas of emergency management and police/community relations.
Q.What is your goal with Reno?
A. We have made great strides in the last few years. Most excited about his playground, an all-inclusive recently completed funded by Texas Parks and Wildlife. This playground is designed for children and families of all abilities to enjoy and participate in the social and recreational activities at Reno Kiwanis Park. I will continue to fight for a clean and safe environment for our citizens and support law enforcement and first responders as they work diligently to keep us safe.
Q. How long have you lived in the community you are trying to serve?
A. I have lived in Reno since 2008 and have been serving the county and community since 2002. In total, I have served him more than 15 years in this city.
Q. What do you do at Reno to foster community engagement?
A. I will continue to be active in the community through community events, raise public awareness of local causes, and fully support citizens.
I love our community dearly. My family lives here including 2 grandchildren. The safety and well-being of our citizens is my number one priority. I commit to be an active listener and outspoken representative of the public, and to be the voice of the public on what I feel is important to improve the quality of life in Reno. increase.
