CLARKSVILLE — Since people have already gathered and devoured Halloween candy, support the Lennox Health Resource Center’s annual check-writing campaign to raise funds for the “Toys for Joy” Christmas initiative , it’s time to open these checkbooks.
For over nine years, staff have raised funds, collected toys and given them to children who may not have a gift or two for Christmas.
Lenox’s Tammy Rowing said, “We are running a check writing campaign.
She and Martha Clement, along with some volunteers, are asking businesses and individuals to fill out checks for the Christmas Toy Drive.
“We will also be doing a boot drive on November 12th at both red lights, the one by the square and the school,” Rowing said.
The boot drive starts at 11:00 am and continues until 1:00 pm at both locations.
Parents in need of a gift for their child can stop by the Resource Center at 114 N. Walnut St. on Clarksville Square during business hours Monday through Thursday to fill out an application to qualify for a gift. can be filled in. A volunteer “Santa” then distributes the presents in time for their parents to give them on Christmas Day.
“This is for families in need of Christmas help,” Rowing said. “We try to give each child at least one nice gift for her.”
If you’d like to help make Toys for Joy successful again this year, you can stop by the center on Walnut Street with your check donation. If you cannot come to the center with your check, mail it to Lennox Health Resource Center, 114 N. Walnut St., Clarksville, TX 75426.
Lawing said she and Clements would also be happy to give the children new toys.
