A Parisian man was arrested last week on charges of sexually assaulting a child after he admitted to having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.
Brythson Lane Clark, 21, of Paris was held on bail totaling $50,000 on charges of sexually assaulting a child on November 21.
According to court documents, the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office became aware of the sexual assault on Nov. 13 and had an interview with a forensic interviewer scheduled for the next day.
The girl told an interviewer at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Paris on November 14 that Clark kissed her, penetrated her with his finger, and had sex without her consent, according to court documents.
According to court documents, Clark admitted to investigators at the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office that he kissed the girl and used his finger to penetrate her during an interview on Nov. 16.
Clark denied having had sex with a minor, telling investigators the girl kissed him back and the sexual encounter was consensual.
Stevie Darrell Gardner, III, 20, of Paris is being held on bail totaling $16,000 on charges of assaulting a public official (two counts), harassing a public official, and resisting arrest .
Paris police responded to a drug offense at Block 1700 on Polk Street at 12:03 am on Friday.
Officers encountered Gardner at the location and upon arrest, the man resisted and punched two firefighters during the exchange.
At 10:36 pm on Friday, Paris police responded for the third time to a disturbance that occurred at Block 2100 on West Austin Street.
Ira Earl Sherfield, 55, of Chandler, Texas, is being held on bail totaling $10,000 for possession of more than 1 gram of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
After spotting a woman walking down the street, officers saw her throw an object containing methamphetamine to the ground.
She was arrested and transferred to Lamar County Jail.
Bertin Rodriguez Torres, 32, of Paris, is being held on bail totaling $59,000 on charges of stealing more than $2,500 of property, fleeing arrest or custody, and failing to identify himself as a fugitive. .
Paris police stopped at 1800 blocks on Bonham Street at 3:43 pm on Sunday and found the car smelling of marijuana.
During a search of the vehicle, passenger Torres escaped from officers and was arrested after a short chase. He gave the officer a fake name, and it was later discovered that Lamar County had a warrant for his arrest.
Calls: Paris police responded to 278 calls and made nine arrests over the weekend.
