Paris police respond after man drove vehicle into Lake Crook

Paris police responded at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday to Lake Crook after a man called the department stating his vehicle was in the water.

The man told police he liked to watch the sunrise from the city lake, and his vehicle made contact with the water after he spilled hot coffee in his lap, causing his foot to lift from the brake pedal.

He said the water carried the vehicle away, but he escaped after rolling the window down.

A wrecker service recovered the vehicle, which was completely filled with water and no longer operable.

The man refused treatment from Paris EMS.

Investigation begins on “Guitar thief team”

On Wednesday, September 20, Paris Police took two separate reports and began investigations into a two member “Guitar Thief Team”, a black male and a black female, both wearing black hoodies. The “team” arrived at 3:49pm in the 1700 block of North Main Street; entered and the male selected a guitar and inquired of the price. He was told that the price was on the tag; he then grabbed a second guitar and walked out without paying.

A black & white guitar and a black guitar were stolen. At 5:18 p.m., the “team” arrived in the 1400 block of Clarksville Street; walked in, grabbed two electric guitars (Fender guitar with distressed blue paint and a Vintage brown guitar) and walked out again, without paying.

Video footage from both locations are being reviewed.

Calls For Service: From Tuesday through Wednesday, the Paris Police Department responded to 135 calls for service, arrested four adult persons and made seven traffic stops.
