The final 80-hour (5-week) free industry preparation program at Paris Junior College kicks off on Saturday for 20 lucky students. The course runs from September 17th to he October 23rd, every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5:30pm.
Previous requirements for a GED or high school diploma are waived for the final course. If taken as an individual class, this training would have cost her $2,400, while the student’s cost will be covered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Commission’s Skills Re-education and Upskilling (TRUE) Agency for Education in Texas. It is funded by a capacity grant. The program provides access to entry-level positions so students can undergo on-the-job training to qualify for high-demand occupations.
